Hey guys, so what's the next step up in quality from the Bobwhite? I have one with 28"'s in 20g, and it's a great hunting gun....but still leave a little to be desired in the "feel" department. Whats a guy have to find or pay to get the same type of SXS but with nicer triggers and maybe wood? Thanks

I'm not an expert not even own any sxs yet. The real question is how big is the next step you willing to take? An extra $200 dos't take you to far , $2000 probably get you a much nicer gun.

Maybe take a look at the franchi SXS guns that Clay at Prophet River has, or the Ugartecheas or AYA guns from Will Bilozir at

I don't see them getting cheaper. Your other option is to educate yourself about the various makes that exist and scour the Exchange (and other sources) until you find one used for a good price.

SKB, Bernardelli, Ithaca, Miroku, Browning, Beretta, Ugartechea, AyA, Franchi, Darne, etc. Check out the "Show us your SxS / OUs" picture thread.

Ooh the AYA I'd love....anyone know what the bottom end AYA is these days and what they cost new? The Fanchi might be nice too....

An new AYA Model 4/53 will likely have a tag of CDN $4k+ ..... an new Grade I Ugartechea could be had for $2k+ although it would lack the overall finish of the former shotgun. Come to think of it, the Turk gun will still have nicer wood underneath all that lacquer. :)

Will had some box lock Ugartecheas at our spring show this year that were very affordable and well made.
However, you may alkso want to check with tradex, a sponsor here.
he has more than a fe w italian guns and a few Merkels and Husquvarnas as well, although thbey are not in porsitine shape, they are under $1,000!
