I’d be using this scope on my bighorn 223 rem and on a vudoo v22 rimfire 22lr. I like the idea of the moar-t reticle for target shooting. The first focal plane has one issue I don’t like and that is that the reticle is so tiny and low Magnification. I have never owned a first focal plane scope so help me out here lol. The scope is for target shooting at steel plates and shooting at paper

There's no way around that. The reticle has to changes size for the reticle sub tensions to be accurate at all zoom levels. I'm not an expert but I don't see the benefit of a first focal plane scope for a 22 lr since most of your shots will be fairly close (I only shoot mine out to 100 m). My suggestion is to buy another scope at least for the 22.

Second focal for known distances and many hunting situations where the power is used at low magnification. Definitely first focal for PRS or situations where you want the graduations to subtend - measure the same at all powers.

I just go shooting by myself. I don’t hunt biggame. Only some small varmints when I can. If I could look through them before ordering that would help too. I don’t like to shoot at over 20x very often

Here's my experience. I hunted and shot a variety of calibers (22LR to 7mm Mag) with 3-9x40 type Second focal plane scopes all my life. Last year I purchased a Razor AMG 6-24x50 First focal plane scope. I initially put it on my 22-250 coyote rifle and then switched it over to my 6.5 Creedmoor for PRS shooting. I love the FFP and honestly want to change out all my scopes now. It's just nice knowing that your holds are exactly the same, regardless of what power you are on. If your plan is to shoot targets with it, I recommend FFP.

Do I need FFP on my hunting rifle? No. That scope stays on 6x pretty much the whole time and I rarely take a shot over 350 yards with it.

Ya, I’ve read some other people’s comments on this subject and some of them say after ffp they want to add more ffp scopes to their rifles. I’ve checked out some YouTube videos with cameras set behind the scopes to show the differences. The ffp NightForce ATACR looks to have tunneling effect in the lower power setting. That is a nasty thing to me lol. I like a wide field of view at low power. I do think that it must be very nice to have the hashmarks all hold their value at any zoom setting. No need to wonder or do any calculating that way. I think it’s weird that the same scope I’m looking at jumps in price by like 500-600$ just because the reticle is ffp. Maybe it costs more to make? I don’t really know.

Ya this rifle I got put together is my steel plate shooter and I wanna also do some load development when I have my reloading gear together. I would hope that the 5-25 moar ffp reticle would not get too thick at full power to do precise target work on paper. That’s the one big concern I have aside from the reticle shrinking at low power

I have both first and second focal plain scopes. My main carrying around gun( 280 ackley) has a swarovski Z8i second focal plain scope. My yote gun has a Kahles 6-24x56 first focal plain scope cause if I see one at 600 yards I don't have time to dial the scope but rather use the reticle( I clipped one at 609 yards last winter like this by just using the reticle). If I was only shooting target at known distances I would chose second focal plane as the crosshairs tend to be finer at high power. If I had to chose only one type of scope and live with it for the rest of my days it would be first focal plane without hesitation.
