Hi Guys,

Would current holders of registration certs for the T-97 drop me a PM ASAP?

We've been in contact with representatives of the new Public Safety Minister on this issue. With the ruling finally being officially released we can take further action.

Confiscation of firearms under a CPC Government can and will have far-reaching ramifications for their support from the recreational firearms community. Just because there are only a handful of owners affected, all Canadian gun owners must stand united behind them before we allow Liberal-appointed bureaucrats to set us out on that slippery slope of confiscation.

We have/had a meeting scheduled with Minister Toews toward the end of the month on this issue, however, with the official release of this decision, calls were placed immediately to his office on the matter.

We recommend that all T-97 owners in receipt of this letter get in immediate contact with their nearest provincial court and file a request for a reference hearing.

More to come later.

RCMP/Firearms Center is apparently advising T97A owners to contact the point of sale dealer and claim compensation for the loss of their property. RCMP/Fireams Center obviously feels that Lever Arms should be financially responsible for this decision rather than the Government of Canada.

National Firearms Association has been dealing with this issue since the initial seizures last year, with the previous Minister of Public Safety.

RCMP/Firearms Center's timing on this action has been duly noted. Right after a cabinet shuffle to have it fly under the radar of the new minister. Very clever, but it won't work.

NFA will be meeting with the new Minister of Public Safety at the end of the month, and this issue - as well as the issue of the initial importer seizures that precipitated this mess - will be dealt with, as well as many other issues stemming from actions by the firearms bureacracy. It will be interesting to get the Minister of Public Safety's opinion on this, and his opinion of the controversy RCMP/Firearms Center is shortly going to be bringing to his government with this action. What this amounts to is confiscation without compensation. We have already experienced this situation before during the early 1990's when certain firearms were confiscated or coerced into surrender, reflecting very badly on the government of the day within the firearms community.

This current situation will do the same. Is the Government of Canada aware of RCMP/Firearms Center's decision and it's ramifications ? We will shortly be finding this out.

If you own a registered Type 97A Carbine, have been contacted by CFC and have been advised that you will shortly be receiving a letter revoking your registration certificate for that firearm, FILE A REFERENCE HEARING TO HAVE A JUDGE HEAR THE MATTER IN THE CLOSEST PROVINCIAL COURT NEAREST TO YOU IMMEDIATELY.

You have thirty days after receiving the order. Those licensed firearms owners who legally acquired by transfer facilitated by Canada Firearms Center these Chinese Type 97A carbines have upwards of $1000.00 invested in them. CFC would like it if you just rolled over and surrendered the gun, or made it Lever Arms problem. Don't give them the satisfaction. Make them explain their actions and answer to the financial implications and the issue of compensation in a provincial court.

NFA will report on the response of the Minister of Public Safety, and advise further action for those effected owners.

The firearms community must be punished for it's success in moving firearms law reform forward under this government. Bill C391 means an end to some very well paying public service union jobs in the gun control fiefdom if successful, and that cannot go unpunished. RCMP/Firearms Center must demonstrate to the firearms community that it is THEY who control you property - not you.

FIGHT BACK. If you are effected by this, contact the Minister of Public Safety NOW. If you object to this action - DO THE SAME.

Thank you for posting this and taking such swift actions thus far!! I do not own the gun in question but as stated all firearms owners need to be united in the fight against these types of decisions and the buck passing that occurs during and after them. I am in for the fight!!!!!!!

Absolutely ridiculous - so the confiscation order is in then? There should be a damned bloodbath over this in the media, if we can get them to air the story without their usual liberal bias.

All those issued notices, fight hard and know that those of us who don't own the items in question are standing with you and will do whatever we can from our end! Letters, phone calls, faxes, hit them hard!!!

Should we not unite and stand up for those facing confiscation and Lever as a business?
If we know of place and hearing dates, can we not gather outside court house with signs?

Mr.Toews,

I am deeply offended that the RCMP is even considering taking away the legally obtained
Norinco Type 97 rifles from the law-abiding, tax-paying citizens. What I find even more
appalling is that their reasons for considering the confiscation are based on misinformation.

Confiscation is a disgusting abuse of power, and even more so when the targeted are
the LAW ABIDING, TAX PAYING citizens of Canada. They are entitled to the fruits of
their labour, as you are yours, Mr. Toews.

Canadian firearms owners are NOT second-class citizens. They should NOT be treated as such.

Thank you for your time,
~K.S, and the long hunting/recreational shooting sports ancestry.

If one man can stand up to the RCMP and their lawyers in court and come out on top then so can anyone. Use Spencers strategy, it works.

As far as NFA and CSSA go, if you cannot get out thru Canadian media, try contacting NRA and US media thru them. We are all in the same boat, aren't we?
Canadians watch US TV channels... open their eyes and ears.

Q - Will registration lead to confiscation?

Answer:

Gun control is not gun abolition and claims that it will lead to confiscation are not based in fact. In the vast majority of cases where specific types of firearms were prohibited because they were not deemed appropriate for hunting or target shooting, the owners were grand-fathered. This enabled them to keep those guns until their death and in the case of short-barrelled handguns, owners became a restricted class and were allowed to trade amongst themselves.

Trust me... Ya whatever

And some more...

"The Firearms Act is about licensing and registration, not confiscation." - Former Justice Minister Anne McLellan, July 31, 1998.

"Let us not hear that the registration system will cost $100 per firearm. Let us not hear that it is a prelude to confiscation by the government of hunting rifles and shotguns. Let us not contend that it will cost $1.5 billion to put in place. That is the way to distort the discussion. That is the way to frighten people." - Former Liberal Justice Minister Alan Rock, February 16, 1995.

"This is not about confiscating guns. I resent the implication and the mythology that is portrayed by using that statement, because it is incorrect." - Lynn Myers, MP. Parliamentary Secretary to the Solicitor General of Canada, November 8, 2001.
