My letters went out today....even though I don't own a T97 :)

Good luck to those of you that own one, you can count on my support

I purchased a Norinco Type 97 rifle in January 2009 and I just now get a phone call from some idiot that can barely speak english that I've got to surrender it. Fat Chance! Have fun coming and getting it.

hope you file the court papers like NFA said, welcome to CGN

I sent letters in today. I do not have a T97 but this is a very scary thought that someone can decide that my gun should be confiscated on the opionion that I will become a criminal and change my firearm in some way. If you use this logic we could lose all our firearms on the basis that we might shorten the barrel or remove the pin from the magazine. Is there anything else that can be done other than letters? Would contacting the media help the issue? I suppose not. Why does it seem that the only people controlling the media are the ones that try to make it look like responsible firearm owners are guaranteed to become criminals and must be closely watched.

I wonder if the authorities will be getting alot of phone calls very soon about stolen T97A rifles......

Oh I think that the theiving no good hiding spot out back is very capable of stealing alot of these very kinds of things...

Those theiving hiding spots are such a big problem that we should write laws to ban them. Or maybe we can register that hole you dug in the back yard beside the tree. Anyways lol...

Thank you. Colt

Hope Depot will have a run on PVC pipes.

If it time to bury your guns, then it's also time to dig them up.

That won't work either. The RCMP already employs ground penetrating radar to find buried guns. (they did it in that case with the guy who shot and killed all those RCMP officers I believe)

Here is a link I have handy on burying guns. I have posted it here before.

hxxp://www.scribd.com/doc/13087631/How-to-Bury-a-Gun-and-Ammo

Either you're going to have to have several thousand acres to hide your guns, or you will have to hide them somewhere else. It won't matter because the RCMP still reserve the right to arrest you and either detain you or charge you with a myriad of crimes for not producing the gun. And, if they find it, that's more charges. In no way am I either endorsing to hide your gun, or give it up. Seems like we're screwed either way, unless you go to provincial court.

What about stripping the entire firearm & only handing in the part that is registered with the government. Then just make a copy and re-reigster it named something else?

If you're thinking about not standing up and at the very least firing a letter of protest because you don't own a T97, remember Niemoller's utterance :

When the Nazis came for the communists,
I remained silent;
I was not a communist.

When they locked up the social democrats,
I remained silent;
I was not a social democrat.

When they came for the trade unionists,
I did not speak out;
I was not a trade unionist.

When they came for the Jews,
I remained silent;
I wasn't a Jew.

When they came for me,
there was no one left to speak out.

Write letters, emails, make phone calls if you can...just don't be the type that let's others do all their fighting or soon these shameless pigs will indeed come for your M14, SKS, pump action shot gun and so on.

If they see no resistance, they will become emboldened. Stand up when it matters!

Yes, legally all they can take from you and all that you are obliged to have is the registered receiver. If it came down to it, I would not give them a single screw beyond that,even if if meant that I would destroy everything else myself. But unless they make every other part of the firearm a prohibited device, assign it a serial number and register it, you can do whatever you please with the non registered components of any of your firearms...

Should we write our MPs or the Safety Minister?

I'm writing to anyone that can help. Minister, my MP, PMO, etc. You can just type a letter on the computer and print many copies. You can also email the same letter to anyone who you think needs to hear how you feel about this and how disgusted you are with these abuses.

Don't forget that you can send 2 free faxes per day using www.faxzero.com !!!

Cheers

Only an idiot would consider doing such a stupid thing.

Fight them in court ! If T-97 owners do not fight they are not only letting themselves down but all firearm owners in Canada.
