So I was shooting my VZ when suddenly....

Failed to eject, second round actually cycled and the bolt shut on both this shell and the new round.

What does this look like? This is from a batch of 1000 rounds, I have put 250 through my sks, and 500 through an 858 without a problem. Yet somehow this happens on a VZ-58 that has already had its fiirng pin replaced. Pin needs to be replaced again, it literally flew out of the channel again like last time and is damaged...

To me it looks like the round may have been too hot, or possibly a hang fire. Maybe even a crappy primmer that just couldn't take it. You might never know for sure, with when it come to cheap bulk ammo.

Sure but enough to ruin another firing pin?

I honestly expect the vz-58 to be able to hold up to a lot more. Perhaps I'm mistaken?

That's a pretty whopping hole. Looks to me like the primer might have been brittle.

Another thing, is the firing pin hole on your bolt oversize?

Can you post a pic of the bolt face with the firing pin protruding?

Here ya go. Was gonna compare everything with my buddies 858 which ate through 500 rounds of the same batch of ammo no problem.

your hammer spring may be too strong and it is forcing thepin to hit the primerstrong enough to stress it to the point it blows. or whatever mechanism that is in place to stop the firing pin from protruding to far may be worn or broken and again the same problem firing pin stresses or punctres primer to the point it blows.

Parts are often left oversize to allow for differences in manufacturing tolerances. It looks like you did not measure the protrusion when you fitted the new firing pin.

I would say it might be sticking out a little far as well. Could be your new firing pin was machined a little off spec and when it met with a thinner primer...Kablooey!

I have a mosin nagant and 2 svt 40's, and I have the same issue with the S&B surplus rounds in 54R with only one of my SVT's the other two fire it no problem. about 1 in 8 rounds fail to eject and the primer looks like yours, the other 7 are fine. My buddies and i did some testing with other rounds and came to the conclusion that it is just the ammo, some of them just have bad primers. Thats what we get for buying cheap ammo eh.

New pin was replaced after warranty, I am going to send the rifle back once again....

I suppose it could be something on the actual bolt, I did not replace the pin myself so I do not know. I compared with my buddies 858 but the bolt and pins are slightly different, his does protrude a little bit less. I was hoping they were interchangeable but I guess they are not.

Cheap ammo or not, I expect this gun to handle better even if ammo was solely to blame for this, though I don't think it was. I would have probably been ok if it was just an FE. But the fact the pin broke and threw itself out of the channel for a second time is unacceptable imho.

For those wondering this is non-corrosive Norc ammo.
