Headed up this morning to the range and tried out the new covered shelters in the pistol bays, very nice indeed! As new members we have only been there a few times, but the last time was pretty warm, and with no shade at all, the wife got burned pretty good without realizing it until too late. Today, with temps forecast for around 30 degrees, it sure was nice to have that shade!! We were able to stay for a long time, which was awesome because we had to try out a couple of new handguns :) our 18 yr old employee brought his brand new Canik TP9SA with him, and I got to try my new to me ( used) Sig 1911-22
I'm not very experienced, but I was shooting fantastic today, by far my best groups with both my FNS9LS, and surprisingly with the new to me .22

This is my first 10 shot group ever with the Sig 1911-22 at around 10 yards
I got a bit cocky, and set up an empty shotgun shell on top of a stand at about 25 yards, and nailed it on the second shot, lol, without a doubt the longest, luckiest pistol shot this newby's has ever made, but I acted like it was no big deal in front of the young lad and wife :)
The Canik was very nice to shoot also, but I found it had a lot more recoil ( muzzle flip ?) than my FNS, but maybe the longer slide on the FNS reduces recoil more?
Anyway, it was a great day, and a nice addition to the Chilliwack range, I mentioned to the wife that I read that they have " work parties" up there And we are going to volunteer to help for the next one to do our bit to help out

The wife in the new shelter :)

Glad you liked them!! Ken, Bruce and Nick deserve a ton of credit for taking point on them. Delivered on time and under-budget!!

The executive is trying to get more members active in volunteering and helping out. Hope to see you out there!!

Wow, those are impressive looking shelters! How far back are they set up? Hoping I can still make use of the fibre optic sights.. I like shooting in the sun!

There are three of them. Range from 20-25yds ~ish. You can still use FO sights. Lots of light.

Nice pics, OP! Love those pink ear pros! Did you get the shot with slide lock or was it in mid recoil?
Remind Mrs Edgy about her left hand grip on the trigger guard!

Nice, I was there today too. Actually now that I think about it, I think I was coming as you were going in the parking lot.

The huts came in real handy, ended up shooting from under cover entire time. Pretty awesome day to go shooting tho, other than the dink that shot my paint can.

The slide was locked back and she was unloaded when I took the pic :) I will remind her about the grip on the guard also, bad habits are hard to break, lol, best to correct them at the start. She is enjoying the whole hangun experience a lot, which is nice, makes it way easier to get permission to go shooting :)

Were you the gentleman with Stinky Pete? If so, it was nice to meet you bsand, it was a great day to shoot, lol, and if your shooting partner shot YOUR paintcan,,,,,, isn't that just bad etiquette lol :)

The last time I was "on the range in Chilliwack" was Basic Training in 1983, and I was shooting FN C1, Sterling Sub Machine Guns and the Browning 9mm.

Yep, that was me nice to meet you too. Well he didn't shoot it, we don't know who did. Forgot it at while going to the rifle range, went to pack up remembered the paint. One can was shot to ####.

Lol. That's back when we actually had a Base; now there's a subdivision and high school where the small arms range used to be (was it 600 yds there?) . The grenade/rocket range got taken out by a flood, and the PMQs have been remodelled and sell for half a million plus.

The shooting shacks at the Fish and Game club are a great addition though, thank you to all the volunteers that made that happen. The sound baffling on the rifle range is getting completed too, easy enough to work with, can't remember the brand name, weird concrete fiber board stuff.

Good to see your family at the range, edgy! See you at the CQB shoot bsand:).
