Where in Canda would I find a nice leather holster for my Ruger Super Blackhawk with 7.5" barrel? I would like quality without a crazy price tag.

Thanks.

Tagged for interest as I have a 4 5/8" Blackhawk in .45 Colt.

Off the top of my head, Marstar might (if you are lucky) have stock on something from Triple K, which is OK. (You can order them from the US as well, AFAIK) I've also heard good things about Jean Laroche (larocheleathers.com) in Québec.

Ruger SB and B holsters...

opticsplanet dot com has quite a few selections from galco, bianchi, and a few more. While they do not ship all items to Canada, they will ship holsters. I just received a brand new Ruger SB 4 5/8 in .44 mag today and I have also been shopping for leather :D Triple K makes holsters specifically for Ruger and they are 42 bucks on the ruger site...also think they ship to Canada.

+1 For Optics Planet. I bought a Galco Cop3 holster from them at a very reasonable price. The shipping was even reasonable.

It's not a Canadian outlet but Ebay is full of nice looking holsters or holster and belt combos. I've gotten 3 different rigs now for my immediate friends for shooting Cowboy Action and none of them have cost over $150. And it's not like they are "shortcut specials" either. The holsters and belts are double sided and heavily tooled. Two years in since getting them and the original two rigs for my buddy and I still look and handle like new with zero signs of issues.

The first two came from LeathertownUSA dot com via Ebay. But then they stopped selling on Ebay so we got a couple of other rigs from different suppliers which look suspiciously like they came from the same Mexican manufacturing source.

Now that is all well and good if you want a cowboy style holster. If you're looking for something more sleek and form fitted then you'll need to pony up for the other options mentioned above.

Thanks all. I looked at all the mentioned sites and I like the Triple K "Drover" crossdraw holster... Cabela's have it for $50 but out of stock... of course ... so I looked at the Triple K site and the same one is $88. I suppose it is still a good price but I would prefer the $50 tag.

You can also check out Laroche Leather. Joe makes great stuff at a reasonable cost. His turn around time is quick too. Just google Laroche Leather.

both Galco and Bianchi make nice leather holters, pretty much any dealer can get them, all they have to do is call their suppliers

Like I said talk to Joe Laroche. If he doesn't know what one is, wich I am sure he does, show him a picture of one and he can make it.

That's exactly what I did. I emailed him a pic of the Triple K "Drover" holster and he is making me one... I also have him making me an adapter sling for it so I can either wear the holster on my himp or as a shoulder holster. Turn around time is under a week ... ... and price is not too bad. I'll post here a pic and review when I get it.

Does anyone know where I can get either the "Drover" or "Rooster Cogburn" crossdraw holsters in Canada?

Thanks.

Joe's work is top-notch, I am sure that you won't be disappointed. Be aware that most ranges (all?) don't allow cross-draw or shoulder holsters, because you cannot draw the gun without sweeping the line behind and beside you.

I've bought a couple of holsters and a gunbelt from Nate Gable at UBG Holsters. Nice work, good prices, fast turnaround time. He does not have the Ruger Blackhawk listed as available (although he shows several other Rugers) but you could email him at jarhead79 @ ubgholsters.com and see if he is willing to pick up a mould.

This is what arrived today:

The quality of Joe's work is certainly nice and his turn around time was under a week. The only downside is the price seems a bit high compared with the industry BUT the quality is excellent, he custom makes the holster to exactly what you want and you sure can't beat the timeframe. He even called me as he was making it to get my opinion on something so his customer service is top notch.

Overall, I would certainly recommend his work.

Very nice indeed! Now all you (we) need is sufficiently enlightened legislation to allow you to wear the danged thing (suitably filled, that is.)

I'm keeping my fingers crossed that one day I can hunt with the rig but I think it is more likely that we establish a human colony on Mars first ...
