Nice article but I shuddered when I saw the mitchell mauser kar98ks and thought of all mausers that have been violated and falsely advertised as untouched matching pieces. One of my range targets is mugshot of Mitchell that all my mausers will soon have a crack at.

Sadly the rifle pictured is one of those refinished specials with newly applied stamp markings. The bolt is in the white, the stock number number is on the left side and, for being a 1943, she has a lot of inspector markings that were typcially not applied in order to save on production time. I pity the collector who buys one of these rifles.

Luckily this isnt much of an issue for Canadian collectors but for our American brothers down south.

That aside, I truly admire the mauser action and design, so many newly made rifles utilize the time proven design.

If you check around, a lot of folks won't touch this business with someone else's ten foot pole.

looks very much like a "nazified" Yugo Mauser...

Just check the bolt handle. The stock doesn't look original either.
The stamps... if you don't have any scrupels, you can stamp anything with any stramps imaginable.

Is that an old Guns & Ammo, Surplus Firearms, or the latest one?
I have a couple of Russian Refurbished rifles and I know what I have.
Not interested in something made up with a big price tag?

MM = TOTAL GARBAGE. He should be ashamed of himself.

Yeah, If westrifle gets RC, I would grab two, even in less then perfect condition. Only way to broaden the collection in this day and age without breaking the bank.
