This arrived today:

Inside the Plano plastic rifle case was a 1951 SKS in laminated stock, a sling, some stripper clips and two tubular gizmos that I have yet to figure out.

I need another SKS like I need more calories, but I am a sucker for a laminated stock. It is still greased up. Will clean it tonight and shoot this week. I don't expect much in terms of shooting results, since my eyes are no good with open sights, but I can at least attempt to zero it.

This rifle came from Brenden Elias at Nechako Outdoors, Prince George, BC. He is a nice guy to deal with and I think $200 shipped in a plastic rifle case must translate to around $160 for a new rifle. Good deal.

Anyone know what those two tubes are?

Lamo! Blamo!

The tubes are SKS cleaning kits. They fit in the round door in the butt stock. You, for some reason, got two.

I no longer have my sks, but remember how innovative that little cleaning kit is for field use. You use the cap of the tube as a muzzle guide ,just slide it on and twist it so it hooks on the sight, then you connect the tube to the cleaning rod to act as a cleaning rod handle. Along with the rods, brush and jag, you should have a take down tool, basically a small punch.

At that price it makes me want to buy another one lol

Looks very nice. I actually ordered an extra laminate stock from Westrifle to replace my force matched hardwood stock on my 1950 shooter. Westrifle sent me a laminate stock that only fits 1949 SKS's by accident. Oh well, now I have an extra for my sole 1949 SKS :) Got a laminate handguard with it.

Most laminate refurbs I see have the hardwood gas handguard. They just didn't wear out as fast as the original stocks did. Arsenal only replaced what needed replacing, so they stayed.

Very cool, I like the differing wood on the gas tube and the stock, it's the original hardwood on the gas tube. I have a refurb 1954 Izhevsk that has the same thing. I actually prefer this look to fully laminate rifles.

Enjoy her!
