I want to be rid of my hogue rubber monogrip, it is too small and my hand is straining after firing.

I would like suggestions for a set of nice wood grips for my square butt 586 that will fill my hand better and give the thing some class. Have looked at some hogues, any one have any other makers?

Thanks!

Check out the S&W website. I have a M617 that came with a beautiful set of wood grips that I saw on the website (I bought the gun used with the grips included). I have fairly large hands as well and they fit great. TC

Herrett Jordan Troopers, the ultimate revolver grip for people with big hands.

That's what I went to on my 500 S&W, but for a different purpose. On the Hogue grips it came with, the rubber in the area of the hump is pretty thin and it can be a little 'uncomfortable' with hot loads and heavy bullets. I had a set of Jordan Trooper stocks for a N-frame S&W that I picked up at their shop in Twin Falls Idaho. I 'modified' them to fit the 500 and the recoil is bareable now. ;)Spreads the pain over a bigger area.
