I used to think the S&W 686 or GP100 were the nicest looking, but then I realized S&W brought back their model 27.

RRRRRR

I've posted this before, however, here goes again. My favorite and what I classify as the Nicest Looking Wheel Gun
A 4" S&W model 29, with factory ivory grips.

And a picture taken on a visit with the man who had a big part in the gun and the 44 Magnum caliber coming to into existence, Elmer Keith:).

I'm not sure because I haven't seen them all. But it's probably a Smith & Wesson, and it's certainly not stainless steel.

To my eyes it will always be the Python 4" blued but alas (notwithstanding that Her Majesty once saw fit to issue me with the even shorter Colt Detective Special ) I am not trusted to own one so I make do with the obviously much safer S+W Mod 27-2 5" blued which is my second fave looking.

The Classic Models 24, 25, and 27 are nice looking wheelguns, but S&W needs to offer them with 5" barrels as well. To me, an N Frame with a 5" barrel looks just right, like this Model 29-2:

Even better yet, let's make it a tapered "pencil" barrel, like this Model 27:

The 4" barrel would be my second choice. The whole point of a handgun it that it can be worn continuously, and I like the ones that are best suited to wearing on the belt.

tj that top 29-2 is just the ultimate, that's what a mid-late 20th century revolver is *supposed* to look like. Along with a Python, perfect.

Current production available to us, the 4.2" .44 Ruger is pretty hawt.

If Smith and Wesson started making revolvers in 4.24" or even 4.5" they would make a killing in the canadian market.

I just ordered a 4.2" redhawk, but I would have gone with a blued S&W if it was an option

107mm of Super Redhawk

Just finished the "touch ups"... I had the barrel chopped down from 7.5"
The "chop" went well, but, lots of rough edges and dings.

Anyway... I'm content, although I'm waiting for a set of old-style Ruger grips to replace the monstrous Hogues.

Enjoy!
