I picked up my Ruger mkIII 22/45 today. after cleaning it i noticed a really small nick on the bolt. It is kinda deep I can feel it when i run my finger nail over it. Is this a problem? will it affect the life of the pistol or make it unsafe?

I can't imagine it causing any problems. Is it a machining mark? They are super tough pistols and should last you a lifetime.

Probly machining...i just got it, and its a very straight small little nick.
Does it look like it would line up with the "round in chamber" indicator that the MKIII's have?

Where did you get it from?

I bough it form reliable gun and tackle, it was only 350....a good deal.

$350 a good deal? You can get the same pistol from Wholesale Sports for $309 and you'd only pay 7% GST.. ;)

The money saved would've bought at least 2 bricks of .22 ammo...:p

Good deal for the other few stores i checked out around here....I'm a bit disapointed now i didn't think of wholesale. I had one of their catalogs but didn't see one handgun in it. I assumed they only sold hunting weapons. Oh well, worste thing that happend is i supported a local business.

The nick doesn't bother me. I never owned a 22 semi auto before , I am just being a bit paranoid wondering if it will affect the life of it or if it can develop into a crack. but it none of that will happen I am more than happy with and would rather not bring it back.

Don't worrie about what you paid... Wholesale does not ship canada post last time I checked... and will only ship pistols UPS... they wanted $60 to ship one to saskatchewan from calgary... I said to hell with that! It will not develope into a crack... I have a nick in my 10/22 bolt that I have tryed to polish out... but I relized I would probably remove to much material to try and blend it with the rest of the bolt.... so I stoped.

Nice pistol and I won't worry about the nick or the price you paid.

WSS doesn't have the same pistol in stock - or at least they didn't 4 weeks ago. I was told they might arrive at the end of feb. Maybe they've got them now???

I bought a pistol from them last month and it cost $13.79 to ship to Onterrible and arrived via Canada Post 5 days after I ordered.
