I'm in the process of building up one of my lowers, I'm up to needing a Bolt carrier group, lots of choices, are the Nickel Boron Coated BCG's worth the extra 80 to 100 bucks? I'm always sceptical of fancy coatings on stuff.

Thanks
Corey

yes,

and they look good also:

I wish my Ti BCG had this finish...

For $80-100 premium I would say no. It still needs to be lubed though.

There was a guy here who had a Lantac BCG who believed it didnt need any lube. I wonder how his turned out.

I have one and it's really easy to clean and even after you de-grease it the thing still feels slippery.
Has been 100% reliable.

I wouldn't call it a necessity but it is quite nice to have since it's easier to clean than a standard BCG and looks pretty sweet.

The lantac ebcg comes with some frog lube that requires you to heat the BCG up before applying it. I did this on mine and it legit always feels slick. I don't know if it would last forever though, personally I still grease it.

Also if you shoot enough the BCG will eventually discolor.

That depends. How lazy are you? How ocd are you? For me? No it isn't worth the extra cash.

If it boils down to a cleaning and lubrication thing then I'm leaning toward not getting the coated one. I keep my stuff clean enough to eat off and I'm a cheap SOB also.

I don't i keep my stuff clean enough to be functional. But looks like you answered your own question.
