Nickel, Chrome Plating a pistol

I’m hoping to get a reference for a gun plating service in Ontario. Has anyone used a reputable service that can legally plate a restricted firearm? Crazy question but has anyone used the home plating kits I’ve seen online? If so what were the results? Any input as to yea or nay on doing it again? Let me know your thoughts.

Dark International can chrome your pistol. Beware any place without a good reputation. Hydrogen embrittlement could pose serious issues if not prevented.

Since no one has mentioned Rodger Kotanko, in Simcoe area, he does excellent hard chrome. I like his satin chrome.

He can be hard to contact at some points. Night shift at whatever his regular job is and such.

Yes, he is still working. But he has moved about 10 kms from his old location. best time to call him is after 4:00 in the afternoon to about midnight.

Roger does not do the actual plating; he preps the metal. The actual plating is done by a company in Kitchener. Mine was blotchy and had to be redone.
