Nickel finish and oil...

Got myself a Python with nickel finish. Is it ok wipe the gun with a patch of Hppes 9 Oil to prevent rust and pitting. That gun isn't going to be fired soon, it is a safe queen. I don't want an unwanted tarnish reaction or something else.

oil wont tarnish nickel, it will however prevent corrosion

If eventualy that I fire the gun , how do I remove the burned powder residu on the cylinder and bbl.

Clean it and then dry it and oil it... just don't soak the plating in Hoppes #9 solvent .. it would take a while to damage it...
