It's probably nickel... it's not the easiest thing in the world to take a pic of a shiny, reflective object. Seems a little expensive anyway. I've seen Nickel S&W's in person and they are beautiful.

That's the revolver chuck Norris used in lone wolf Mc quad. Hope someone buys it soon as I want it and shouldn't spend anymore money.

Looking for a 29-2 myself but I think I'll pass on the fancy one. I'd end up babying it rather than shooting it.

This is more what i expect nickel to look like and its what others have looked like that have sold on here, maybe the one on the EE is faded a little.

I say nickel, although the flash photography doesn't help. If you zoom in, the hammer looks to be clearly case-hardened. I think all 629s had flash-chromed hammers and triggers.

And it'd be odd for a 100+ trader rating member to lie about which gun he was selling.

I doubt he is lieing just maybe didn't know what he had. In any event im tempted its still a nice piece, but just a tad on the high side for me.

Its probably nickel just looks a lot like stainless to me in the pics, you can even see the swirls in the finish like you can with stainless after you clean one a few times.

Pop him off a PM...he can crack open the cylinder since the model number will be on the frame and have him send you a pic to be 100% certain. I think it's the flash that's making it look worse but that'd be the way to be 100% sure.

Still more then I want to pay so Im not gonna bother. I just posted here to get others opinions.

JohnnyJellyBean has two of these and he thinks its nickel so that's good enough for me. And pretty much everybody else things the same.

look at the hammer ..... looks like coloured cased hardening ..... if it was a stainless gun I would expect the hammer to be stainless too .

I think it is nickel as well .

edit

after a quick google search , a stainless gun would have a stainless hammer .

It's going to be exceedingly hard to tell the difference between the two based on a picture with poor lighting, as well as the age of the firearm being taken into account.
