Nickel plating fix

I have an old gun that was nickel plated, but plating chipped away in some spots, some rust came out... I was wondering if there is a simple approach to make it at least to look not so bad.

I know I can sandblast everything and replate it, but I don't want to do so. What my other options?

TREMCLAD in your favourite colour... and repeat when needed...

A spot repair with a Caswell kit ....may...be an alternative.
I have had success using their stuff that way, tho not on a gun.... yet.
