Does anyone know of a place that does Nickle Plating, small jobs?
I have a magazine (metal, assuming stainless) that I would like to get Nickle plated to match the rest of my rifle.

I seem to recall there was a place in Edmonton a couple years back that did stuff like that but I can’t remember their name.

Anyone know of any place that does small odd jobs?

There are two ways to apply nickel plating, eletroplating, and electroless. For your purposes, electroplate would be better.

One place in north Edmonton, Superior Metal Finishing I think it was called, burned down several years ago.

And there was a joint just between Calgary Trail / Gateway Blvd, north of 51st Avenue, that did a lot of odd jobs in chrome plating. I can't remember their name and they don't show up on Google maps, maybe they are gone, too.

The big industrial shops won't look at a job so small as one magazine. Maybe try Alberta Metallizing or Microchrome to see if they are still operating. These are small, family-run shops, though their speciality was chrome plating, they might do some nickel.

A Google finds Alberta Plating in Calgary, they look to be new since I had any association with the industry. That is the kind of place you need, one that does decorative finishes, rather than industrial coatings.

I used the shop on the south side of Edmonton a few times, had a friend who worked there for a while. They did good work. Haven't required their services for quite some time though, and no idea where they have gone. - dan

If it’s stainless you might consider polishing it if you can’t find anyone willing to plate a single item.

With a little more searching, I find they are still there, but operating under a name I don't recognize:

Fairmont Electroplating
5625 103 A Street
Edmonton, Alberta T6H 2J6
A variety of plating is available including brass plating, antique brass, copper, antique copper, nickel and brushed nickel. Metal stripping and polishing are also offered.
