Night shooting

I though mattyboy had some good points, He inquired about the legality and pointed out that we are more concerned with the laws hear not the rest of the world. All valid points. I think weither it is legal or not in out country/provence is more important then talking about the rest of the world?? I don't think he ever told dogleg that he has to care about anyones intrests??

I'm starting to think dogleg has some misplaced anger? maybe needs to get outa his parents basement??

Mattyboy might want to take the question up with his local game department, since he won't find a constant across the country.

Apparently you did not read my two posts rite above this post of yours?

Thye were in before mine was I think, but you would have been netter to clarify , because in the first part of your post you say there are approved ranges, then elsewhere you say it is illegal.
yes there are ranges that are certified, some may not be, but you did not distinguish between the two in your posts previously.
By the time I read the first posts then entered mine yours was above mine.....

Some of you city slickers wouldn't know this unless of course you get out of the big city lights often. On clear nights leading up to and following the full moon you can see for miles at night when there is snow cover during the winter...no problems at all. If you have a decent scope you don't even need to illuminate your target or your reticle. This is where tracers would be a blast.....:D....but alas....:(.

Ummm kinda sounds like we are arguing the exact same point. It is illegal to shoot at night unless u are in an approved range for night shooting but hunting or on private property is always illegal at night. Sorry if my wording is not what u feel it should be, I'm not an english teacher.

I answered a rude post directed at me, that had nothing to do with the OP's question. If the moderators had a problem with it, they would have been around by now.

No need to call me into this..lol we are all grownups V:I:

Saskatchewan has no such laws. Closest thing is a section in our wildlife regs that prohibits discharging a firearm from a road, road allowance, or ditch.

Actually the law is against shooting from the road at night, shooting from a road in the daytime is OK. Thats probably what you meant.

Hunting Regulations
It is a violation to:
discharge a firearm at night from roads, road allowances and
ditches.
shoot across or along a highway or gridroad.

use any artificial light, night vision
scopes or night vision goggles for
the purpose of hunting.

my post wasnt rude, blunt maybe. and did have to do with the ops post. sorry if i came off like a douche but that was never my intention

That is exactly what I meant. But while editing things for grammar and to make them sound less stupid, I come out looking like a retard. :D Thanks for fixing it for me.

Ok. Getting sick of the people who are saying its outright illegal ANYWHERE in Canada.

This morning I called around to find out the strait up answer for my area, WMA 60 Ontario (North Kawartha), and this is how it went.

1- 11:39AM; RCMP head office general inquires line: 1-613-993-7267
I was transferred to CFC Miramichi

2- 11:41AM; CFC Miramichi: 1-800-731-4000
I was transferred to MNR Ontario

3- 11:46AM; MNR head office in Peterborough: 1-705-755-2000
After being told that its illegal during large game seasons, and that outside of that its the CFO's problem. Transferred over to there.

4- 11:53AM; Ontario CFO head office: 1-800-731-400 Ext. 7503
I was told that this is not up to them, but up to local Municipalities bylaws.

5- 11:57AM; North Kawartha Municipality office in Apsley: 1-800-755-6931 Ext. 231
According to TODAY's bylaws, there is NO law prohibiting night shooting OUTSIDE hunting seasons in North Kawartha. However, if someone were to complain of the noise, that could be enforced. They suggested that I have a good backstop and be sure to know where I was shooting.

6- 1:15PM; OPP Peterborough Detachment: 1-705-742-0401
According to the constable, it is NOT allowed. However he failed to cite any specific law that states when asked. When presented with the above information, he became really confused (Imagine how we feel...) and could not give me a straight answer. In the end he believed the above information to be correct, though as he says, "anything can happen".

Moral of this: JUST CALL YOUR LOCAL AUTHORITIES!
