Night Vision Compatible EoTechs

So how does this work?

Is it an infrared light or just a very faint normal red light?

I think it's the same thing as the visible mode but rendered by an infra-red laser.

Very faint red light. Unless of course I can see infrared.

I can't 'see' the light given off by my EoTech in NV mode even in pitch black. Nor on my Aimpoint T1's in NV mode.

I think it's just the normal light, just reaaaaalllly really dim.

I did this with mine last night and I saw a faint red reticle then turned it up and the highest NV setting is basically the next level lower than the lowest normal level. I also checked the L3 website today and found this:

"A special night vision (NV) setting allows the operator to immediately drop the brightness intensity of the holographic reticle to eliminate any "halo" effect while viewing through an image intensifier tube."

So I guess it isn't an infrared light it's just the normal one at an even lower setting.

I never understood why Eotechs didnt just have a brightness setting from 0-Max. With the NV settings its like 0-10 is NV and then 11-20 is normal.

I think because when you turn it off and back on In normal mode it comes on about half the max brightness of that mode. same when in nv mode. If it was all one eg. 0-max. If you turned it off while in a nv situation and decided to turn it back on it would blind you. Don't think a gi would want that.
