anyone have any experience with NV scopes? been havein a real time with coyoties this winter right up to the house. missed 2 lastnight just after dusk 50 yards from the house. sure thinking about having a look for a good scope. duno who sells this kinda stuff ether. any help much apreciated
 
Good NV is expensive, from what I have seen anything gen 2 or lower is a waste of $$

Something to ponder too before dumping the $$ is for your use, you stand a chance of getting charged with unsafe discharge of a firearm if shooting in the dark.
I know you are a ways away, but so was the guy who I know that got jacked up for shooting yotes in the dark.
Just something to add to the debate of whether it is worth the investment or not.
 
Scout Basecamp has a variety of thermal and/or light amplifying optic options. Just keep in mind your local laws, some places have different laws regarding "night vision" and shooting after dark and such.

We carry Armasight NV and the Gen 2 is much better than NV I played with in the CF. It's well worth the money.

With Gen. 2 NV we've shot small 3x3 plates in pitch black at 100yds like it was daylight. We've used the goggles to get into positions hunting in the pitch black. Used the monoculars and googles for hiking/camping.

We've also sold a few of the Gen 2 goggles to the CF for polar bear watches up in the Arctic. They found them much better than what they could get in the system.

Even Gen 1 is worth the money since we can provide Gen 1 NV scopes for $520 (top picture below). Again no problem seeing anything and making out targets. You just have a bit of snow/fuzz in the picture.

You should see more then sir!

With a good IR illuminator, you can do lots with a Gen 2 unit. Farmboy's photos are a great example.

We're big fans of the Clip-On systems that fit in-front of your existing day optic, but you need a fair bit of "rail-estate" for that.

The nice thing about armasight products is that all their night vision rifle sights and clip ons include an adjustable IR illuminator in the box. That gives you a ton more light down range and has the bonus of making the coyote's eye's glow.

The biggest thing with night vision is practice to make sure you're comfortable with your system, and making sure you're well within local laws!

Something like this runs you $600. With the illuminator running and some proper zeroing you should be confident on a coyote.

I bin thinking long and hard at FLIR scout
Just waiting for tax return I want one so badly I mite sell one of my Rokon's if I get one I want the best
I'm hoping it will be handy out trapping locating pine martens ,raccoons ,beavers ,and otter
Finding otter is vary hard the best sets ore at their toilets it's just about the only sign thy leave behind
I'm looking at HS- 307 commander $9,376.25 from Scout Base Camp
Parable wind up getting FLIR PS32 to start with before making such a big investment
It will take a big pile of otters and raccoons to pay for HS-307 haahaa
It shod be be a grate right off next tax season

I have had a gen 1 scope...did not like it...could not hold zero. Then got a gen 1 monocularwith head mount...much better..but still not great. I have been playing with what must be a gen 2 pvs7 type unit at work....much better. I am looking one of these for exploring at night in my yard. (I have 9 + acres). I am ready to purchase...but can not find any in stock.

The FLIR PS25 will work it not cheep around $2000 but not bad for thermo scout base camp sells them
 
I'm totally into the FLIR LS64, but not the international version. It just doesn't feel right to me have to pay extra for a crippled 7.5 hz version.
