So I finally ponied up for a good piece of glass and bought an NXS 1-4 for one of my AR's.
Did the usual inspection, and everything looked good, tried the illumination and nothing. Figured okay battery is probably dead. Got home, tried a battery from a working vortex PST, and nothing in the NF. Tried the factory battery that came with the NF in the PST and it lit right up. Is it possible I've just got a dud with a broken illuminated reticle?

To answer the obvious questions, it was bought brand new from grouse river, and I've read other threads about it just being really faint in bright light, so I tried it in a pitch black bathroom and still nothing.

Grouse river is already aware and their guy will be contacting me Monday to see what can be done.

Anyone else ever have this issue? Quite the bummer when you're probably going to have to send it back and wait 2 weeks to get a replacement.

I've owned scopes from almost everymanufacturer under the sun... The only one that's ever crapped out on me is a nightforce.

YMMV

I have a meopta that did that , meopta sent me a new cap and spring or retainer and still no go . I was all set to send it to them and I turned the retainer around to what seems to be upside down but it grounds better and works good now

I have a NF NXS in 12-42x56 that has been perched upon my Remington 700 HB Varmint for several years now. (7)
It's been fed a steady diet of 170 gr Lock Base with pretty stiff powder loads of Varget each summer.

Not a single problem here.

In deference, two weeks is a fairly decent turn around IMO. The Swarovski folks have a turn around measured in more than a couple of months.

Nightforce will fix it without a doubt and I'm sure they will be very helpful and it most likely something minor I like my nightforce have a vortex that came with windage knob for elevation store didn't want to help me out so I left it kind of turned me off the brand though.

You would think if it didn't work right out of the box grouse river would just be able to give you a new one on the spot. Why do firearms and scope warranty have to be such a pain in the ass. If you buy a TV for thousands of dollars and it doesn't work. You take it back and get a new one that day. Same with just about every other product out there.

Sorry rant over. I'm s

I had the same problem with a NXS about 5 years ago, it's been so long that I can't remember the details of what we did to fix it but I just called NF and their guy walked me through the fix on the phone. If took about two minutes. Never had a problem afterwards, it might have been a little tab that wasn't making contact and needed to be bent or something like that. Good luck.

Long time since I shot NF.
Maybe the intensity adjustment was set incorrectly from the factory. Where is your control located, eyepiece or parallex knob?

It's in place of where a standard parallax knob would be (1-4 doesn't have parallax adjustment).

Most consumer electronics now are non repairable by design so over the counter warranty exchanges are common.
Guns, cars and scopes are typically repaired and returned. I WISH that cars like my BMW were treated as you want everything to be. Replaced when they don't work.

Isn't there an slotted intensity adj. screw under the battery? Maybe that wasn't set correctly from the factory. If true it can be set in darkness until you see a star/flare off the reticle when illuminated and that should be good in minimal/low light.

That adjustment is extremely sensitive. So have surgeon hands if you decide to adjust it.
