Just went to buy a used nightforce nxs 3.5-15x50 with np-r1 reticle and it did. It have illumination he said it was 3 years old I thought all nightforce nxs came with iluminated reticle he says it's a option is that right?

ALL NXS series scopes have an illuminated reticle.
If it does not illuminate when the parralax adjustment is pulled out then it is a knock off.
The scope in question was purchased approximately 3 years ago from Hirsch Precision. Pretty sure Peter doesn't sell knock offs.

I AGREE!!!! The chance that Peter has anything questionable is so far below zero I can not fathom it.

The only other possibility I can think of is that the parallax adjustment is stuck? And the switch mechanism can not move, hence will not turn on the illumination.
I have seen the odd scope where the battery has leaked which has resulted in the switch being frozen rendering the illumination feature useless.

I don't have the exact NXS scope, but I do have the NXS 5.5-22x56 scope. I find that with MY scope it takes greater effort to engage the illumination function than I originally anticipated. It works just fine, and I do NOT believe that my scope is defective. To engage this feature it's a little stiff and I suggest that you simply try it again.

Ok thanks for all the info but my concern is not that is tough to pull on it is the fact he said it does not have it and i did try pulling pretty hard and it did not budge?

I had a closer look at the scope in question today. Much to my surprise, there is an illumination option. I have never tried because I didn't know about it, and don't need one. It was a bit stiff to start with, but I had very little problem with it. The battery works great, too. Very interesting, but still a gimmick to me.

derrick1978, if my scope is overpriced consider that you don't pay tax, the scope has been lightly used, and it has a warranty.

I have been considering pulling the ad for the scope, and giving the scope to a close relative who would appreciate it. This may happen shortly. If I choose to run the ad you can be sure that john_butt20 will not be buying it. i wouldn't want him to feel that he was being "scammed".

Sorry for the hole mix up but when you said it didn't have the illumination yes I was sceptical with all the knock offs out there yes I was sceptical of being scammed because from all the research and people I have talked to they all have it I would not have drove over 2 hours if I was not going to buy it any way best luck

I wonder how much more the seller would have asked for the scope if he new that it had a lilliminated redicel? :D

Who cares, make an offer if you don't like the price and move on. That's what the EE is all about. If someone wants to ask 105-120% retail price for a used item, good on them especially if they sell it to someone who doesn't do their homework or quite frankly doesn't give a sh*t about cost. I spent a while looking for a Nightforce NXS 5.5-22 on the EE, didn't see any come up up for what I was willing to pa, then just got one from Peter mentioned above. I paid 5% tax and shipping, but to me that's a small price for having Peter in my corner customer service wise.

To each their own
