Another option to the tacomhq units

I'm curious to see how well they work

Certainly not as versatile as the TARAC.....you gotta have rail in front of the scope, and the height has to be just right....but I suppose we'll see other models soon perhaps.

Nightforce comment: " Quick Detach MIL-STD 1913 attachment ensures consistent elevation shift when installed in the field."

So it goes up and down and would have to, so as to ensure alignment.

On order.

From Nightforce

The Wedge Prism is only sensitive to alignment when rolled (canted). Side to side misalignment and the misalignment cause by putting the Wedge Prism in front of a tapered rail typical on most actions won't cause windage POI issues or differences from the engraved elevation shift value. We do recommend checking for windage shift and elevation shift accuracy and repeatability using a tall target but we have not seen any issues on our rifles.

Forgive my ignorance but what exactly does this do?

It increases the available elevation that's needed for extreme long range shooting

"The Nightforce Wedge Prism is offered in 2 variants, 50 MOA or 100 MOA, that install forward of the riflescope to increase the effective elevation travel. The Wedge Prism optically shifts the incoming image to the riflescope by a precise elevation value, which directly adds to the available elevation travel within the riflescope."

Nightforce has shamelessly ripped off Tacom’s product. They did the same when they started making scopes when they ripped off the Leupold Mark 4 and were sued for it.

I like it....but...in my opinion there is not enough flexibility. It would be nice if these systems allowed the user some adjustability of the prism so that the elevation shift can be manipulated on the fly. I suppose that would be the logical next step in the evolution of these designs.

Thank you.

My understanding is that the gents at Tacom approached NF sometime in 2017 for a collaboration but were denied. Hope the boys kept notes on the conversations had in the meeting.

What counts is whether or not there's actual patent infringements.. and I highly doubt anyone here has the tacom patents and the nightforce schematics sitting in front of them.
