I just got a call from Nighthawk Custom. Apparently my Talon II has just been completed. Is it possible to build a custom 1911 from scratch in just 16 days?

I just ordered it on October 4th. I'm not complaining my Les Baer Premier II took 8 weeks. The only thing I can think of is that business is a little slow at Nighthawk this month.

The paranoid side of me (the bigger of the two) makes me think something strange is going on. As far as I can tell this will be the first Nighthawk in Canada so I would like to think they would do a rush job on it.

I'm sure a lot of the options you chose were custom, but they likely have all the parts ready made, and ready to assemble.

Heck, I could put together a 1911 in less than 16 days if I had all the tools... :)

Thanks canucklehead. That puts my mind at ease. Yes, all the upgrades I chose were standard ones that they do on a regular bases.

a competent gunsmith can have a 1911 built from on hand parts in a day. Take another day to pretty it up and depending on the type of finish that could take a few hours or days to do

I "see" where your coming from on this issue... But honestly, I think this is the first time I have seen someone complain about FAST service... Usually us shooting sports enthusiasts are complaining about the time it takes to have custom work done...

RANGE REPORT PLEASE!!!

Cheers
Jay

I would imagine that I will be waiting at least another month for the export permit and then at least another month once it arrives to get it Registered in my name.:(

As soon as I get it a range report will follow.

let me just share my experience with regards to setting up a custom 1911, my former gunsmith can put altogether a 1911 in less than a week, 2 days for the finishing. thats less than 10 days the most. and its pretty accurate and reliable. especially now that you can get parts that are a product of EDM, CNC, you name it. so it means less work on fitting. sometimes it just part of marketing strategy to prolong a project to create an impression that you order is done with great detailings. and this comments comes from my gunsmith, and a well known smith in california, Im sure some of you know whom Im talking about.

Yes, I am going to try it out for IDPA. I just ordered a Kramer leather holster for my premier II yesterday. I emailed William Kramer tonight to see if I could include a holster for the Nighthawk in the order. I didn't expect the gun to be done so soon. I thought it would be about two months.

Hopefully I get to try out both guns with lots of IDPA before the government tries to take them away:mad: .

Okay, I admit... I thought you were crazy to spend that kind of money on a 1911... but I concur that is one SWEET pistola!

.45 would have been MY choice though.... it's a 9mm right?

Slick unit! Like the grips... nice contrast...
