Sorry but I just gotta say it... I almost spit my dinner out when I checked the price on this thing.
Are you guys sure someone hasn't been drinking on duty over there? A 4-500 dollar 870, some action tuning, and some accessories turns into $2100.00 ? That would go a long way toward an upper end Benelli semi.
 
spoken like someone who has no clue what they are talking about. first off its an 870P not an express, the "action tuning" as you call it (the proper name in Vang Comp and its completely changes the accuracy and recoil of the gun). if you where to have tactical ordinance build you this exact gun you would be at the same price and instead of getting a home brew Canadian garage gun your getting a gun from the top custom gun manufacturer on the planet. So if anything Wanstalls should be praised for giving us access to high end custom guns at the same price as we would pay from a run of the mill smith in Canada.

maybe you should keep eating dinner and surfing CGN separate hobbies. could've saved yourself a pork cop, actually learned the difference between an express and a nighthawk custom gun and avoided trolling on a dealer

Maybe your right and I have no clue. I did not deliberately troll Wanstall's forum and have nothing against them at all. But I don't care how much you polish up an 870, it still ain't no Benelli M4 (for the same price). If a super duper 870 is worth it to you for 2100 bucks, fill your'e boots.
 
Forgive me, but I feel Lil juiced coupes comment was a little harsh. I don't mean to intervene but I thought we were above that here at CGN. Clearly Tek was uninformed and this firearm may not be marketed towards his buying preferences. However, a kind and educational reply ie "this is why it costs more..." would have been much more effective...and polite. Rather than name calling.

"Trolling a dealer" is exactly what he was doing, logging into a dealers forum to announce to the world he spat his dinner out at the sight of the price of a gun that he had no idea what it was. So having not known anything about the firearm and and saying Wanstalls is selling a polished 400 dollar gun is almost the exact definition of trolling.

This forum is for grown ups no need to be a "parent" tek is a big boy who had a miss informed opinion and he now knows the difference between a "400 dollar gun" and a custom built combat gun

Unfortunate that the new norm on Cgn seems to be that everyone is an expert on every gun and feel the need to spew misinformation everywhere on quality products

The value in a Nighthawk Custom tactical shotgun comes from a variety of facets, some of which lil juiced coupe touched on with a bit of a sense of humor up there. The fault is ours for not being a little clearer about all the benefits of these combat guns.


These shotguns are built from a Remington LE 870P receiver, not Express receivers. They're finished with Nighthawk Custom's proprietary PermaKote finish, which runs about $250 all by itself. It has a $220 full Vang Comp treatment, which involves lengthening and reshaping the forcing cone for superior patterning and control of the shot as well as porting in a patented pattern for maximum recoil reduction and elimination of muzzle rise without adding as much gas flash in night time use as other porting patterns. The action is honed by hand by NHC's master gunsmiths whose work has been in the hands of federal law enforcement agencies and vetted for years as best-in-class. The sights are a little over $200 per set. The furniture is $130 per set. The custom magazine tube extensions are about $100.

In all, that's $900 in accessories and treatments, on a $650 receiver, with the action customizing, hand-fitting, finishing, and assembly by a master gunsmith. For someone looking for the ultimate PUMP shotgun, this is it. It won't please a semi-automatic buyer since it's not a semi-automatic -- a whole different animal! This is the top of the mountain as far as pump-action guns go.

i DO have something against wanstalls but must admit that their shotgun is fairly priced !!
I have a REAL 870P that have been tuned by Tac Ordnance ( back bored and vang comp port), then cerakoated, i have installed the shurfire pump and enidine stock along with few mesa accessories and it's little but over 2600$ total !!!
 
I purchased one last year and I must say its an awesome shotgun. This is a very accurate shot gun and I've shot many different brands. Now I will agree it is pricy but well worth it. Lucky Wanstalls has one in stock, I waited 8 months for mine to show up

Before I say anything - I want to apologize to the fine gentlemen from Wanstalls for wasting their space, but if you are referring to Casey at Tactical Ordnace as being " home brew Canadian garage gun" you are way out of line, I have owned ever major custom manufactured 870 out of the US - including Scattergun Technologies, became Wilson Combat, Robar, Robbie Barkman, Gunsite etc, his work in my opion is on par with Nighthawk and trust me that Hans Vang thought long and hard before he made Casey the Vang Comp distributor in Canada, his work in the field of custom working shotguns both police and military is impeccable...

Beautiful shotgun. Wanstalls is there any chance you're getting the Wilson Combat 870s in ever? Out of curiosity, do you know how much those run?
 
Is it a smooth bore or a rifle barrel? Also does it come with another barrel doesn't seem like it but might as well ask.

In the end you can build it send it to them and spend the same amount but it depends on what you want in a firearm for a pump gun it would be hard for me to spend that kind of money but they did put the money into it and have a fair price. For me it's a hard stretch to buy it with other firearms in the price range that catch my eye but that's me so... Different strokes for different folks.

I agree. I have two guns built by Casey at Tac Ord. He is the Canadian Vang Comp distributor. He also has a lifetime of experience being an armorer for a large police force. Calling them "garage guns" is insulting.

I've tried the Nighthawk products and they are also excellent.
