Was drooling over the GRP recon and couldn't find anything about mag capacity. Anyone know if they are 7 or 8. I'm hoping for 8 cause I might buy myself one for(next) Xmas.
What would be from the factory? I know that 1911's come in 7 and 8 rounders I just don't know what that one is. There were no store on the website for mags or anything.
Don't let the capacity of whatever mags are shipped with any particular 1911 fool you. A full size .45 ACP 1911 (government or commander) grip will take 7, 8 or 10 round mags. 7 rounders typically sit flush with the base of the gripframe, quality 8 round mags normally stick out a wee bit form the base of the gripframe but typically hide the extra length in a slightly extended baseplate (such as the Chip McCormick Power Mags or Tripp Research CobraMags). 10 rounders protrude quite a bit beyond the gripframe.
But all will fit into a Government or Commander length 1911 just fine. Officers models and smaller 1911s will use smaller mags with less capacity.
Full sized 9mm 1911 mags come in 9 round and 10 round flavors.
