I have a Sentry Safe quick access pistol safe. The buttons are illuminated but if your room is dark, you can't really see what you're grabbing at. For $12.00 I solved that problem...;)

Video clip at the end of pics. :)

Yup. Theres enough room for a magazine. Its a sweet safe. Buttons are powered by AAs and there's a key backup.

I really love the mcgyvering that goes on here on this forum. I've been trying to find time to put a new smaller safe in this week, and the spot i picked is pretty dark so i definitely like what you did there.

Costco has the finger print one for 199$ and the key only one for 99$ right now. Bought it as an easy box storage in my gun vault. Lol not ambitious enough to have a quick grab pistol on the night stand lol. 12 gauge semi auto box mag shotty will have to do.

Why do you need a light at all, you just screwed up your night vision. You have a gun and a mag. You won't have any problem finding it in the dark.

I have this small "black light" flashlight .Its bright enough so I can see what I'm doing & others cant. Plus my eyes don't have to re-adjust to the darkness again. $3.99 @ buck or 2 store.

The red light is good for your night vision... But once you'll turn your pistol light on...your eyes gonna need to adjust. Nice idea for the red-light-in-the-box (better than a white one) but i still prefer using my red flashlight offhand in the case of total darkness scenario. The pistol mounted light is a good blinding weapon if you know how to use it. I wonder if a red mounted light pistol would be good?

Do you keep a loaded mag in the firearm while its in the safe?

To be honest I don't actually use it. my wife saw it and figured I would love it but as far as I know it would be illegal to keep the pistol with a loaded mag so what's the point. I have a kid on the way so I figure I might use it to store my edc knives eventually.
