I spent 3 hours today figuring out and tuning my nikon scope with BDC. Wow this thing is fantastic. At 400yrds I could consistently hit a beer can and at 600yrds I could hit within 1sq/ft everytime with no guessing. I know this is not all that impressive compared to the benchrest guys but for hunting I am thrilled. BTW the gun is a sako A7 in 300wsm.

I to have the BDC and have yet to play around at any distance. Did you use the Nikon website tool that lets you fill in your load information and then tell you your distances?

No I setup a full sheet of plywood with a white circle on top. I had it zeroed at 200yrds. I put the plywood at 600yrds and fired five shots with the cross hairs on the top circle. I then painted a circle around the group and adjusted the magnifiction untill the bottom
circle was over the group. It is at 16x on mine. Then just shot at a target with that circle. Hope that makes sense.

I think I understand what you did. I was hoping you just filled in the info into the web site's calculator and it was bang on. When I a chance I will get out and see how close there calculations are. Our calibers are similar (7mmRM) so I will post and let you know.
