My buddy has one in 7mm Remington Mag. Its a nice looking rifle but I havent seen very may around, are they a good rifle? He was told it is a knock off of a weatherby, can anyone supply any more info? Thanks! :dancingbanana:

It is actually a NIKKO Golden Eagle. Nikko was essentially formed as a joint venture with Olin/Winchester in Japan. Winchester had invested in the plant and had them manufacturing parts and stocks. Of course, things went sour when Nikko, using much of the technical information they had acquired in their JV decided to do things on their own. Nikko did produce firearms for Weatherby, so that may be the "knock-off" theory.

They are usually very good looking rifles, as they took the best stock blanks in their JV efforts. As for being a good rifle, I have only seen a few but range reports were satisfactory.

They have 3 locking lugs at the rear of the bolt, don't they? I had one at one time but never shot it. The guy I sold it to has not shot it yet either as far as I know.

I referred to them as "The Gilded Turkey" which was indicative of the regard I had for them. They came with a pink lined case. Need I say more? Regards, Bill.

The longest , whippiest barrels I have ever seen!
I think they were 26", and very thin.
High gloss finishes, aslo, with "California school" stlye of cheek pieces.
Uuuuugly!

They did, too! Even the 375 Safari grade model. :D

My wife gave the case to a friend of hers with a rifle that she gave to her as a present when she and her husband came up here to hunt with us. After they got back home, Jim took the rifle to Corlane's and had them powder coat it purple. :runaway: :dancingbanana:

The match is actually quite elegant. ;)
