Few weeks ago I decided to sell my Leupold VX2 (6-18x40), in order to get something with more magnification and clarity. I was rather in impressed by my Nikon Buckmaster 6-18x40, when compared to my VX2 that I decided not to go with VX3 and pick up the Monarch instead. Nikon clarity and glass seem top notch. Range reports coming soon, once my new shooting stick arrives. :)

I purchased a Nikon Monarch 6.5-20 x 44 from a board member here for one of my precision set ups. I was amazed at the clarity. It is easily on par with my VariXIII Leupold for clarity and resolution. When compared side by side the only difference my eyes pick up is the contrast. It has very fine crosshairs which is perfect for what I intend to use it for. Excellent peice of glass.

Let us know how the monarch compares to the buckmaster. In the store the two appeared very close in optical quality.

Optically I can't tell either, but Monarch seems to be finished little better, feel of the adjustments is excellent as well. Once it warms up I am going take both to the field.

I have a Nikon 4x on my 17 FB right now but have another scope on order. Its nowhere near the quality of a Nikon but I needed more magnification than 4x. I am looking at a Nikon and am looking forward to your report.
