Nikon Optics

I bought a Nikon monarch 3 4-16x42 nikoplex recticle. I bought it for rugged use while hunting and this season it got put thru it's paces, took a few good hits and a fall onto rocks..... held zero no issues.
I plan to buy another Nikon scope shortly. I'm also a big fan of the Nikon Spot On app for dialing in scope and load.
Nikon is certainly worth a look and will be my go to for scopes under a grand.

Hi everyone,

I've been on the road at the Abbotsford and Edmonton Boat Shows the past two weekends and haven't spent much time on CGN. Lets go over the above and I'm home the rest of the week to weigh in on this and answer any questions as needed.

- Warranty; Lifetime No-Fault. Pretty much the same as everyone else out there. Couple of quick things, we will ask you for the receipt however it is not required to perform service. This has been a fairly recent change (last year and a bit) as we've explained to our service department that no one has receipts from 1995. Keep in mind they are used to dealing with cameras which feature a 2 year warranty and certainly not No Fault. Lol. We are trying to prevent grey marketers and will run a serial number check if you don't have a receipt, this can slow down turnaround time.

- "Reading between the lines", instead I'll simply give you the stats. Nikon sport optics for North America had a failure rate below 1% last year. This is the warranty numbers from the US and Canada combined. Our stuff is made rock solid and my favorite question at gun shows is "Can your scope handle my HUGE XYZ gun?". Yes, even the Buckmaster 3-9x40 sub $200 scope is rated to 1000g's. Slam it on as big of a gun as you like and it will work just fine.

- You do not need to register or send anything in for said warranty, (we do serial number tracking), so as for non-transferable you may come to your own conclusions based on the above.

- If you bought gear from 1995 (or whenever) with the 25 year warranty, that has now been made into the Lifetime No Fault. This goes for all products excluding rangefinders and removable fieldscope eyepieces. (Before you ask, if you break a fieldscope eyepiece you must have hit it with a cement truck deliberately.)

- Highly recommend you play around with our Spot On app either on the website or its now FREE on your Apple or Android phone. (Pro tip: When you first load it the app will ask you if you wish to use US or Canadian version. ALWAYS choose US as we have to translate it to French here in Canada and are usually an update or three behind).

Anything else you need to know I'm happy to help! (We'll also be setup at the Calgary Easter Gun Show for the first time if you want to come by and say hi, I'll be there all day Friday.)

Excellent stuff. Now I can breath easier and keep buying nikons.

i own three of their affordable prostaff models. I love them and never had a problem. Got one on a rem 700 in .270 another on a Thompson pro hunter in 30-06 and the last one on my 209 muzzle loader.

Currently own a 3-9x40 BDC Prostaff and have it mounted on my great grandfathers .30-06, I have no complaints. Also looking at a 4-12x40 Prostaff for my .223 once I get ahead of a few bills. I like Nikon product, from price to durability, to warranty (not that I've needed it but it is comforting to know it's there) and the fact that they have a presence here on CGN and are nothing but helpful and knowledgeable.

I currently own three Monarch 3's and will keep buying them. I haven't had any issues with them so far, and I love their glass and ruggedness.

Nikon sport optics are a great product line and very well priced for the quality and features you get. While things have slowed down overall for optics in the last year I can tell you that Nikon sales have increased and we had many models sell through before I knew it. At one point we did not have one Monarch left in the store (Travis corrected that in a hurry). They tell me Nikon has good warranty so I take their word for it as I can't remember the last time we sent one back for warranty repair. Phil.

I now have three Nikons and all are quality scopes.

My only gripe is availability, I would buy more, but I just can't find them in stock.

My least expensive scope is a Nikon which I have on a 22 LR. I think that it is a very nice scope at a very good price. High value. My Nikon lives an easy life and I have had no trouble with it in three years I certainly wouldn't have my receipt for it...

Thanks for all the replies. Still considering a nikon for the 300 wsm or the 50 cal muzzle loader. Had a pair of nikon bios for work which broke a few years ago. Almost no customer support and ended up trashing them. Still a little shy on nikon.

Thanks again,

Glen

We have been a major dealer for Nikon for several years and still have many models at last years prices. Phil.
