Im looking at these as a possible scope for my CZ scout. In the pics the reticle looks a little fat though. How are they really? Are the crosshairs fine enough for target work?

Rfc reviews are good. Apparently the worst aspect is the 50m parallax causes some blurring under 25m, but the optics are clear and the reticle is nice and fine.

I'm down to this vs a bushnell 3500 2-7x32. Can't decide. I think I need to look through both.

I have the Monarch 5 x 20 BDC on my 300wsm and love it. Side focus works OK as a range finder as well. Of course it's not as accurate as a laser, but up to 400 yds for Antelope it has worked for me (compared to laser, I'm still right on target).
Not sure how useful a BDC is on a rimfire...but if the price is right.

It's about $200. Has a fixed 50m parallax with no AO, but it's apparently good and clear out to .22 ranges. The BDC has marks with a 50yd zero at 75m 100m and 150m. It sounds pretty good really. I think it would be a simple scope that would be equally good for target shooting as it would be hunting small game.

I just really don't like having to dial a scopes elevation constantly when I'm plinking with a rimfire. Im heavily leaning toward the nikon. I'm going to go and hopefully look at one this weekend when I'm in town, and with any luck I can take the CZ with me to work out the proper rings for bolt clearance also. The nikon looks to have a huge eyepiece!

Just bought a Prostaff 3-9x40 BDC in silver. Very clear and bright, the reticle doesn't seem overly fat. Would recommend it to anyone. Anybody know where i can pickup a silver sunshade for it?

I recently got a Burris Timberline 4-14x32mm for my cz 452 and I love it. It has a fine cross hair with hold over marks, parallax down to 7 yards, clear optics and is compact. Only down side is the price at $360, but i would buy this scope again. Just my 2 cents.

I was doing some subtension comparison between the Vortex Dead-Hold DBC 4-12x50AO and the Nikon BDC150 and here are the results in inches:

___________Nikon______Vortex
50yds________0"__________0"
75yds________2"_________1.5"
100yds______4.5"________4.5"
125yds_______7"__________7"
150yds______11"_________11"

Now if the Nikon Prostaff EFR came with their BDC150 recticle and a magnification of at least 4-12 or 4-16, we'd be in business but I'll be getting the Vortex soon enough.

Mike, i was in the same boat as you last week. I went to Cabelas and they had just the regular Prostaff 3-9x40 BDC wich is the standard 1/4" at 100. As far as I can tell it is the only difference. I have no problem getting a clear focus up close either. Hope that helps.

Cheers, Monk.

Th parallax on the regular prostaff is set for 150m, whereas the rimfire model is set for 50. I think I'm going to get the vortex... Has the BDC and AO swell as a higher magnification at a great price. Win win win.

If you don't mind me asking how much did you pick that up for?

Cheers, Monk.

It came to $283 after tax and shipping. As far as I can tell that's the best deal going, I also paid $10 extra for the dead hold BDC reticle. I called them this morning to check the availability and I was told that vortex had just finished the production run and the shipment including the 6-18's is due in by the end of the month.

Im pretty pumped! Now I have to find some solid rings. I might just bend over and buy the CZ 1" rings. Expensive but I've heard they're super solid.
