Nikon Scopes

That really sucks, I wanted to try a nikon but I guess I'll pass now...

Still worth the risk imho with some of the sales retailers are having, Reliable had their Prostaff3 on for 50% off recently. I’ve got 4 Nikon scopes and a range finder and have hare zero issues over the last 4 or so years, they get hiked with, bounce around in the truck or on the quad and they have always held zero when I confirm my zero before the spring and fall hunts.

If I was looking for a specific Nikon and could get what I wanted at 50% off, I’d buy it without a thought. The most expensive one I’ve bought was $300-350 at full retail, so half of that would be a steal.

I was in the photo business for many years so here is my suggestion. Digital cameras do not hold their value they are basically disposable after a few years. If you want to get the best value out of your replacement (in order to sell it) take a lens that works with the FX full frame format. Electronic flashes do well too. Do not take a camera in my opinion (for what ever that is worth)

Nikon warranty update. Got an e-mail from nikon about a week and a half ago telling me, "the cheque is in the mail". I will let you know.

Well it took close to 6 months and no end of phone calls and e-mails, but today I received a cheque from Nikon for the full purchase price of a faulty scope which I purchased new. So all is well that ends well and the cheque can go to help pay for the Leupold that replaced the Nikon. w:h:

I have a Nikon FX 1000 Black 6 - 24 x 50 illum. , I bought it a couple
years ago before they withdrew from scopes.

I have it mounted on my CZ 457 MTR and I really like it
no prob's xlnt all around scope.

That being said , I didn't buy it for or because of warranty
therefore IF I got a really good deal on another , I would
go for it .

You decide.... skwerl

Well right when they announced pulling out I picked up the same scope for what I thought was the same reasonings; a good scope that was well reviewed that shouldn’t need warranty for a great price.
Right out of the box the illumination didn’t work...
For me it worked out as the retailer took it back, refunded my money and sold a more expensive scope (Vortex Venom PST II).
No issues with the other Nikon’s I have but I know when I sell I’ll take a hit and if I have an issue it’s a paperweight...
It’s to bad as they made some good scopes...
