I have two Bushnell scopes on rifles of mine. I keep hearing About Nikon, I have never looked through one. Leopold I just put up for more options. Feel free to add in more optic brands. I want to know what your opinions are and Which optic brand and set up has been the best results for you. I personally like my bushnell elite series scopes. I would be curious to hear what you have to say about nikon.

i love nikon the company, but the one thing i hate about their scopes is that the adjustable parallax only goes down to 50 yards, and not 30 or even 10 like many others. optically, though, they are very nice, and i like their BDC reticle cuz they use hollow rings as opposed to fat dots. alas, i do not own a nikon riflescope (but do own their camera systems and have one of their rangefinders coming in)

Just got a new 6-24X bushnell 4200 and will let you know. At the store, the bushnell optics were the "quickest" for my eyes. I looked at Nikon and Bushell.

The Nikon X-models, M-223 and all Predator models are awesome. Specially their predator reticle, I replaced most of mine predator rifles from Leupold to Nikon.

Cheers.

I have 5 nikon buckmaster scopes 3x9x40 on 10/22, 6.5x55 & mod88 284;3x9x50 on 17hmr; 4.5x14x40bdc on 270; 6x18x40 with target
dot on 22-250. all are nice and clear. I think they are a good price for the quality of glass.

Check out the Falcon line at Frontier Firearms link above. These British made scopes get good reviews and are definitely priced right, especially for the features. I just bought one. Its clear and appears rugged and all that stuff but I really can't review it until its been mounted and field tested. Other reviews, as I've mentioned, were good.

Horus Vision, the $400.00 reticle people, market the Falcon with their reticle installed. Falcon's are built with the superior FFP design but a shrinking number of North American shooters have been unwelcoming to the change. Other FFP scopes include S&B and USO which cost 5 x what Falcons do.

Sorry to sound like a Falcon salesman, I'm not. As they're an uncommon brand I just wanted to relate some of my own "purchase decision" logic.

is it just me or does nikon seem a little over priced?

anyone have good stories about ncstar?

overpriced? at SAIL stores, yes by quite a bit (with their inflated rates, it makes sense to buy a Monarch instead of the Buckmaster). but if you look at where they're priced in the US market, i think they're right in line.

never heard a single good thing about NcStar.

Depending on your budget you can probably find a good used Leupold on the EE and you won't go wrong with one warranty wise. They do have pretty decent glass also. The nice thing about good scopes is that you can always sell the rifle out from underneath them and find something else to put them on. My advice is save up and buy the best you can.

Either Leupold, Zeiss or Nikon, all are good scopes. Leupolds guarantee is good to have if something happens. I like their VX-II line, rather good price and ok glass. Nikon Monarch is priced too high. In that case I rather buy a Zeiss conquest.

How do Canadian Leupold owners stand warranty-wise ? I'm not fishing for issues here, I'd buy Leupold in a heartbeat, but there was some banter on CGN not long ago where eligibility issues were discussed. Does it matter where your Leupold was originally purchased? It would be nice to know.

My friend and I were just scope shopping - and did a 'blind' test - put the VXII, Monarchs, and Bush 4200 & 6500 scopes side by side, and they were covered so we couldnt tell what brand they were... all were near the same power and were either 40 or 42mm obj. - first all were set on 4 power for view #1, then 12 power for view #2... we were outside on a gloomy overcast day, and looked at about 200yds where the side focus was set(on some models)...
So our judge was just our eyes, just what we felt was the clearest - along with which ones were the easiest on the eyes/easy to pick up what we were looking at.

I urge you to do the same and see what you think.

What we found was the 6500 was the winner on both low and high power, and the vxII and the 4200 we agreed were equally tied for second.

FYI i have a leupold VXII on one of my guns, and if there comes a day where I need/want to change it, I will go with a 6500. And save a couple hun in the process!

Bushnell 4200 is what I chose over the Leupold VX II when I compared them side by each! Past dealings with the warranty dept at Bushnell have been good, so that's who I gave the Nod to.
That being said....I also have a signature Series Burris on my old Browning S/S 270.....been there since 1986....not one single problem what so ever!..If I don't get a 4200 or a 6500...I'm seriously looking at another Burris for my future rifle!

I think the older ones are exempt and the newer ones need to have been bought in Canada, or something like that.

Kev...I Just put a Burris FullfieldII 4.5-14x42mm on my T3 Varmit 250, Absolutly love it!!!
Its got the 3200 beat hands down and IMO as good or better then 4200!!;)
