Nitro Express

All in good time. Just had my fitting on the long weekend. .500 3" on a merkel action. hehehehehehe Used the slave stock to file in the sights and man is it awsome! Took six rounds to get it where we want it. Sorry no pics yet but all in good time. There is something cool about two barrels each containing 570 grain woodleighs!

I own a .600 NE:dancingbanana:

(OK, just a single cartridge, in the collection, but you did ask for anything...)

I used to have one.:( Wish that I still did!

Voila le 470 Nitro Express. I just wiped all Pudelpointer's drool off the darn thing an hour ago. As soon as my extra-large chamfering/deburring tool gets here I can start work on a load with 500 gr Woodleigh Solids. Softs are already hanging in the culling belt!

Big Ugly Man I will be awaiting your report back from Africa as to how the Woodleighs perform. Heard great things about them. Your merkel is awsome and will knock the stuffing out of them. They are probably the best buy out there for a double rifle in nitro caliber and that is what got me rolling on my build.

TooTall what make is your .600? Have you taken anything with it yet? I am a little dense so if you meant just one cartridge and not a single shot rifle my bad.

Yes, just one round for the cartridge collection, no rifle to fire it in.:(

A .600 NE double rifle made by a quality British gunmaker can run into the many tens of thousands of dollars, perhaps even $100,000 or more.
FAR more than I can even dream of spending on a shooting iron.

I did get a good deal on the one round though. IIRC, it was US $25 about 10 or 15 years ago.

Well tootall I have my fingers crossed that one day you will have a rifle to shoot your round in. Afterall I think there was a thread a little while ago that started out "ever build a gun around some extra components" or something to that effect. My rifle will be ready early next year so when it is complete I promise to post pics. Big Ugly Man got me all revved up with his double and it is glorious!!
