NNY 6.5X51R Brass? What the Duece?

Hello,

I happened to recently purchase some brand new NNY marked 6.5X50SR Japanese brass from a friend and old time reloader.

However, when they arrived, I noticed all of them being marked

NNY

6.5X51R

Is this the same caliber, or different? It looks about the same, and the case neck is annealed.

What is the extra 1mm?

Same. Euro designation.

From Graf & Son webpage:

"PRVI BRASS 6.5x50 JAP (6.5x51R) UNPRM 100/BAG"

"NNY" = "PPU" ie Prvi Partizan

Case necks are always annealed - some manufacturers just don't bother to polish it after the final step. Purely cosmetic.

Speaking of which, Winchester 760... what powder loading might be safe and good for use with 140 grain lead gas check bullets? I was told 38 grains from a friend.
