No. 1 Mark III rear sight

Well, the base wasn't supposed to be removed from "a serviceable barrel", so I can only suppose that some heavy-duty work will be involved (i.e. cut the base, thus thrashing it? Or was it soldered on, so low heat would help and it could slide forward?) - I don't think I'll try that in my shop...

Drift out the cross ppin with a hard punch. Remove the screw that holds down the spring as it's most likely into the barrel. Drift the sight block towards the muzzle with a brass block. Should come free providing not rusted on or soldered.

The pin is tapered and it must be driven out from the correct side. You'll also need to remove the front sight base to get the rear one off - you sure you really want to do this?

Good point - I wouldn't do it unless the barrel has already been cut, making it a good candidate for playing around with,
