Ok, this where the rubber hits the road. If I could offer people new stock sets for 275 dollars for the no.1 mk 3 and no4 mk1 would you purchase one? How many sets would you get? I need SOLID numbers to see if this is feasible. Please msg me with your potential order. As these are cnc'd they will not be perfect and may need hand finishing. If I don't get enough interest, I'm putting this one to bed.

From my reading and speaking to people in the business, CNC routers produce accuracy of 2-3 thou. minimum and none of the incomplete inletting, ridges, fudges and other hallmarks of duplicator-made stocks.

What kind of accuracy as you anticipating?

Personally I think you'd sell a lot more for $190. a set, and the lower it goes the more you sell.

At that price I wouldn't be interested. Here in Alberta there are a few people turning out very nice walnut No1 wood sets for $250.00 that need minimal finishing. Also how long has your wood been dried for?Would you stand behind your product if it was to turn into a hockey stick?

Where were you the last thread I made!?!?! Who are these people? Name? Number? Pricing? Website?

If they turn out nice I would definitely buy one at that. If you could do one made of something with very nice tiger striping and red in color I'd pay more.

On eBay you will pay $400 for an unissued set that matches in as new condition delivered.

Too rich for my blood. I believe the current going rate for a complete wood kit WITH all the metal parts is 100-150. That's your competition. If you could turn out a "perfect" stock set in interesting types of wood at $150ish I think you'd have a real business on your hands.
That said, just because you can't cater to everyone doesn't mean you can't cater to anyone. Surely there is some interest at any price point.

What is your main cost - hiring the CNC programmer? Time on the machine?

I'd like to say yes.
That is pricey but there are HORDES of enfields out there that need wood - especially the NoIMkIII....

Exactly, but according to people there are sets out there for a good price. I just haven't found them. Would love some help but so far, all quiet on the western front.

Wow! Can you tell me where I can find one? I'm totally in for that. Main cost would be startup and then time on the machine.

Thanks haretrigger and dead eye. I'm going to keep polling people and see if we can't get something going. I think there are some really great points made. Where to get the walnut wood from, how cured will it be so it doesn't end up becoming a hockey stick. How rough would the wood be after cnc'ing. What about metal parts? Now, I'm here in Winnipeg and I'd love to work with anyone to make this happen as I DO NOT have all the answers. I have someone that would be able to do the 3D scanning and I would need to outsource the cnc work. I will keep this post rocking if more interest arises or I hear back from a few of you who seem to have contacts making and selling wood for enfields at a great price and high quality.

At that price, I'm sorry to say I won't be buying. By the way, have you considered making a synthetic or plastic "full-wood" stock set? Something in black or grey wouldn't be too ugly...

Alberta gun stocks will do walnut No1 MIII for $250.00.I was looking at their work at the recent Edmonton gunshow and it was very nice. They also do Ross stocks. They are pantograph duplicators and are located in New Norway Alberta.

For that price I may take one, if it's been properly seasoned, and comes with the metal bits. I don't mind if I have to do some inletting and of course apply linseed oil though. Might I add that I'm a local so I'd be very interested in coming in person to see a finished product.
