I just received my scope back today after a little sojourn...my, how it's changed...:)

Aside from the dents and pipe wrench crush marks, it had a lot of internal problems...should have probably been put to rest...

But now:
I've got to say I'm pretty pleased with the result.

Thats what I want my first milsurp to look like, how much you figure a rig in that condition including a scope like that might run me?

I take it Laidler did the work?

No, someone much closer to home.

He did a pretty good job of fixing the marks in the tube. He had to machine up custom mandrels. The ocular ring also had a dent in it, out of round and thus the scope was on the way to the scrapheap. When he tried removing the ocular ring the lens disintegrated... In order to get the rest of those marks out he would have had to weld up the marks and reengrave the original markings. He already had way too much time into this unit as it was.

One thing him and Laidler both have in common...a shortage of parts.

These days if you can get the scope and bracket for under $2K, you are doing well. The T converted rifles have been running from $800 to $1200+ on their own. And those $800 ones have become hard to find.

A friend had a mismatched outfit he wanted to sell. I suggested he put the scope separate from the bracket onto ebay and then sell the rifle locally. Rifle itself was a mismatch, both the wood and the bolt were incorrect.

Total price realized was $1800 (scope), $600 (bracket) and $900 (rifle).

I offer these as todays prices. Like oil, the price will change by tomorrow, and the overall trend is up-up-and up.
