Finally finished the No.4 Mk.I sporter with new woodwork (Fajen, found on ebay), micrometer back sight, fixed the magazine and forestock.

Looking forward to getting it on the range.

It's amazing how a monte carlo stock can make a sported Enfield look so nice. Looks great. I have a #4 Parker Hale and they are a lovely thing.

Thanks ... I might still have it parkered if it shoots decently. The weather around here has sucked lately, so it might be awhile before I can get it out. I've done nothing with it that can't be reversed, to include re-stocking it with *mil woodwork, i.e. "no horses were injured in the making of this rifle".

Very nice job on the wood and a nice classic looking design. How finished was it when you got it and did you alter the profiles?

I'd look for a barreled action that has been sporterized "properly" to fit your wood to down the road. Until then, enjoy!

Thanks for the comments. It was a fun little job. I had to reinforce the rear of the fore end and shim it, but that was 1/2 the fun. If at some point I want to throw it into a *mil stock, there's little I would need to do other than get the wood and other bits.

These are the 2 stock sets ive been working on the past 2 months! tons of work but getting closer to the finished product it looking amazing!!! Love the monte carlo sporter look!

"...have it parkered..." Lube-rite. Comes out black. Parkerizing is shades of grey depending on the steel it goes on. Can't have it done in just any metal finishing shop either. Say, "Merci, Comrade Chretien."

Nailcreek, the wood you got has some great character in it. From the lack of sheen I'm guessing that you still have a few coats of oil to go to get it where it's field ready. And it'll only get better and better as you progress.
