Looks like a Churchill or Parker-Hale conversion, so yes, that would have been in the U.K. If the bore is good it should be worth $350 to someone, but he might not come along for a while. I doubt if there is a hunting rifle that is better value at $250, you'd be giving it away if you sold for less than that.

Those are some crazy high estimates. If I was buying it, I wouldn't pay more than $150 for it. A sporter is a sporter. Even though this one looks nicely done, an original military configuration No 4 MK I is $350 - $450 and a sporter will never be worth more than one in military configuration.

Good point. Id put and asking price at $250. If guy is smart enough offer $150, he still gets it. If guy is not smart enough to talk business, he pays the full $250. Definitely wouldn't spend over $175 for it like Cody said. Paying $300 for it, you may as well pull your pants down and bend over.

Yes, agreed.
In reality though, the vast majority of people interested in sportered LE's won't give you any more than $50 more for a nice churchill than they will give you for a run-of-the-mill sporter.
Seems like there are three price points for sportered LE's -
$100 for shot out rusty parts gun
$150 for typical sporter in good working order with good barrel
$200 for beautiful Parker Hale or Churchill that's almost too nice to hunt with
A serious connaiseur will pay a bit more, but you'll have to find one first.

If you were the only potential buyer that would be significant, but you aren't so it isn't. A sporter is a sporter. A better sporter is another one, and worth more. Especially to a buyer to whom money comes more easily.
When you are selling a nice Churchill or Parker Hale it probably seems not many people are interested in them anymore, but when you decide you want one, you may wait quite some time before one is offered.
this one went for $155 SHIPPED the other week, its a parker hale apparently, not quite as nice as the one in this thread.

We used to hear complaints about how all the surplus rifles used to be cheap and now are really expensive, it seems we support that by asking high and taking offers, it just doenst make sense to me to be asking $200 for a sporter enfield, which will likely be dented scratched and have the blueing worn off along with the rifleing, when you can buy a brand new rifle, wether it be a mossberg, savage axis etc. for just over $300, to me the price is inflated, not that the enfields are bad rifles, but it seems like their value is inflated a, for something that is stuck to what is nowadays a "lack lustre" cartridge.
Having said that, good luck with the sale, if you dont mind please update us as to wether it sold quickly and if for full asking price or not, I guess thats the bottom line.

I agree that the rifle isn't worth as much as these guys think it is but I didn't even bother replying to their comments because I'm not even going to argue with them. If they want to pay more then have at it. Its not my money being wasted.
A rusty, ####ty sporter is worth removing its mag and sell it it then throwing the gun in the garbage.
A bubba'd sporter is worth $100.
A nicely done sporter is worth $150 - $175
However, the .303 is far from being a uninspiring round. Id rather own a decent shape $150 Lee Enfield sporter drilled and tapped for a scope mount then a new $350 Savage Axis. The gun is cheaper, will do the same job, and will take down any game animal in Canada. Bigger animals may require a 2nd or even 3rd follow up shot but when you have a 10rd mag, that's not an issue. That 10rd mag will come in handy if you happen to be the unluckiest person in the world to get cornered by a pack of wolves. If you live near a range the Canadian Rangers use, you can find bucket loads of .303 brass to help majorly cut the costs of shooting.
If it is a PH or Churchill and IF the rifling and bolt is in really great shape, I would pay an honest $250 for it. I own two of them with full wood and can testify that there is no way any new rifle in the $350 to $600 price range can compare. They are solidly made and designed to shoot well in the most of extreme conditions. I notice that this one has the flip up tang sight. Very accurate sight system.
The only thing I do not see in the photos is the 10 round mag. Is it included, or was this one of the models converted to a floorplate system?
