No.4 Mk.2 Savage made?

I have a what so-called 'Irish Contract' No.4 Mk.2 and I wonder is it a Savage made? the serial number starts with "PF" and made in 5/54.

It would have been made at the Royal Ordnance Factory, Fazakerley in May, 1954

Savage did not make the no4mk2 rifle. Some of their rifles were converted after the war to that status, but the model number would have been no4mk1/2 (if it was a no4mk1) and no4mk1/3 (if it was a no4mk1*). Also, one or two digits, followed by a C for Chicopee falls, followed by up to 4 or 5 numbers was the norm for a Savage, ie: 23C4567. Lastly, the US built rifles had the words "US Property" on the left top of the receiver, although these were often scrubbed.

Savage production ended in 44; no4mk2 production was post war, although it had been tinkered with during the war.
