How do I take the bolt out of the rifle? I can't seem to find the bolt head catch, whatever that is. Does anyone know of a good website that I can goto to get a diagram/ picture of this ? I was on surplusrifle.com but the picture didn't really show me where the catch was .
thanks

Should be like half an inch or so from the chamber wall on the right hand side ( if you are looking towards the front sight). There should be a small section the width of the bolt head cut out of the bolt 'track'. Run the bolt up to that spot so the bolt head is flush with it. Then snap the bolt head over the cut out section. Pics anyone?

The cut can be in two places, near the chamber, as above, or near the stop when the bolt is pulled all the way back.
Also there may be a bolt release catch that has to be held down so the bolt head can be twisted up!

If you have the catch, you have to hold it down BEFORE you pull the bolt all the way back. Took me a while to fgure it out too.

Thanks for all of the help guys, I don't have a catch but I did figure it out. The cut out is near the chamber
thanks

It's that * as HeadDamage said. No4 Mk1* releases the bolt that way, with the cut out up near the chamber. Most Long Branch and Savage production are this variant. The original No4 Mk1 has a catch you have to depress, and the cut-out is located near the catch, between the rear sight and the charger bridge, (which is also the way they made the No4. Mk2 and the No.5. )
