How does one adjust the fore sight on a Lee Enfield No.4 Mk.1?

For windage, drift it to the appropriate side. You may need to loosen the retaining screw in the front of the sight base.

For elevation, replace it with a different height sight.

How does one adjust the fore sight on a Lee Enfield No.4 Mk.1?

Do you have a Long Branch with the protruding screw head on the front of the sight base? If so you need to buy or make a tool to loosen off the screw with. If you have a British gun with no screw, you can use a front sight pusher tool or a punch and hammer...

I have found that even with the screw on the front, they aren't that tight. A small ball pein hammer and a brass punch will move it. The tool isn;t that hard to make, mind you. A minute with a dremel on the shaft of an old screwdriver will make the tool up in a minute.
If the rifle is shooting too low, you can file a bit at a time off the front sight blade. If you only have one Enfield, it gets to be kind of expensive trying out the different available sight blades.

Whichever type you have, the front sight gets moved in the opposite direction you want to group to go.

Never, ever use a drift punch to remove the front sight!! The proper front sight tool is more efficient and can be manufactured out of an old screwdriver.
