I recently acquired a jungle Carbine made by BSA Shirley in 1945 with non Factory markings on the right hand side of the butt stock:
26 10 48----------- Date?
I H L--------------- Unit marking? the first letter could be a 1
73------------------I assume the rack number
A. SQN--------------I assume that this indicates A Squadron of the unit
The markings are one above the other like they are listed above and deeply into the wood. Can anybody identify the unit or whatever the second line means? Thank you.
