Hey guys.

I rec'd my AIA rifle - love it - however the stock sent with it does not make using a scope easy. I'm sure it would take a No.5 stock, so does anyone know who makes a synthetic stock for them (one with a raised cheek piece)??

Thanks!

Why are you sure?

ATI and RamLine make synthetic stocks for Lee Enfields. The one for a No.4 will fit a No.5. I have heard that the ATI's Monte Carlo style holds your cheek higher up than the RamLine does, but I haven't tried a RamLine so I can't quite assure you of that.

O.k. I think it might work, I just wouldn't use the phrase "I'm sure" without trying it or hearing from someone who had, so I was wondering if you had.

I have a defective ATI stock for the No.4/5 which you can borrow to prove it, if you aren't in a hurry. I can give it to a friend who lives there and visits his sick mother here every few weeks, then you can get in touch with him to pick it up. (I got it second hand without a receipt and I painted it before I installed it, so I can't return it for a refund, but I would want it back because I'm thinking of sending it to ATI partly out of curiousity that they might tell me what they think about how it got like that, and maybe they'll feel sorry for me and send a replacement for good PR.)

On mine the forestock is bent in the vertical plane so it slopes down away from the barrel, but it fits correctly around the action on a No.5 I have, so you could know for sure whether they fit before you buy one. But if you buy one and it doesn't fit, I expect you could sell it for most of what you paid, so maybe it would be worth it to just go buy one.

No 5 stock

Hmmm!

It would be interesting to see if it would work but it'd be cool to see if there was a synthetic stock made in 3 pieces just like the no 5 stock. I'm in no rush because I have to go away for a while so I'll have to make it a summer project. I want to do this mostly to save the wood stock from hunting death and to get that raised cheek piece into the butt portion for use with a scope - plus I like the setup of the no. 5 stock (and the look!). In any case I'll let you know closer to the summer what my plans are! Thanks!

I have a synthetic No4 stock in storage and will dig it out after Christmas and put it on my No5 to see how it fits. There are only 2 pieces and I have never seen an upper fore stock piece with any after market stock to date.

I live just a teeny bit north of Redmonton, if you would like to see the fit in person, we could meet somewhere.
