Just goes to show you the seriousness of the situation in 1940.

I am wondering if the 'pusher' disc fell away after the grenade was fired? Seems like it would add quite a bit of drag to the grenade. . .

Well they reccommended shooting it at close range ~50 yards

Disc stayed intact during the flight unless part of it was destroyed by discharge and then the flight path became erratic.
We made a p*ss pot of the 68's in Canada.

quite an excellent item to have at the time, imagine if you could give every rifleman the ability to knock out any enemy tank of the day. 52mm of penetration could take out any german tank until 1942 with the panthers and tigers being introduced, and even then, most german tanks (pz 3s and 4s) would be quite vulnerable

"Desperate" is Molotov Cocktails and "Sticky Bombs". This device looks quite sophisticated for 1940: shaped charge and all.

..Ok, just had a look at the Wiki page. Notice it says the "EY" rifle was used to discharge this. Isn't that a new spin on EY rifles? I always thought it stood for Emergency Use Only

I would said that's actually pretty good solution. What was the firing signature like? One problem with later war solutions (bazook, panzerfaust, panzershrek but not PIAT) was that the fired signature was so huge you had to kill the tank or have serious repercussions.

Emergency use only, you bet in close engagements against a massed armoured assault!

^The truth is probably more like this without supporting arms.

Considering Australian troops were running up to Japanese Armoured vehicles @ the Battle of Milne Bay etc, and deploying sticky bombs directly onto the hull of the tanks, this probably would be considered a luxury in comparison. :D

Did you notice what model Lee-Enfield the guy is using in the picture?
I could use one of the No 68, anti-tank rifle grenades for my collection.
I also need a base plate for a No 36 Mills grenade.

A Poor defenceless little SMLE Mark I which has gone through the entire EY conversion and is being used for grenade launching.

Somebody should RESCUE the poor thing!
