Saw some yesterday laying outside at the depot at Sail. There were 6-7 of them on a pallet. Not too bad condtion right now but definitely exposed to the weather.

BTW: All the Illtis vehicles look like they where being scavenged for parts.

I was there just a few weeks ago and it has changed quite a bit, no much "surplus" stuff to be found anymore ... But one good thing is they finally moved all the gun stuff downstairs so I don't have to take that gosh-awful "elevator".
 
Apparently they will be using the building just behind the other side of the outdoor yard for all of their surplus items, but not until Dec/Jan 2006. That’s the building that now has the “PRE FAIR” painted on it. It’s most likely in that building at the moment. Being organized and cataloged..
 
I sorted through a couple dozen pallets of No.7 boxes a year or two ago. Almost everyone was badly weathered. They'd spent too many winters outdoors to be remotely Good. The outsides were peeled and gray from exposure. Many end panels were cracked. Many latch protectors were split. Some boards were broken. The only ones worth buying were from inside the piles, and I had to unbuild the stacks to start finding ones a grade up from ####. However, the insides were almost always really nice.

But, at least JB knows there is value in surplus and is willing to dedicate on building to just surplus.

I missed buying a plastic 1950's 10x50 binoculars case. Shoulda is the story of my life.
