I recently got a smokin deal on a #8 .22 rifle. I still don't have it in my hands yet, but already the search for parts/info begins. The only problem with it is the butt pad has collapsed, likely from getting oil soaked over the years standing up in a rack. By what I can see on the few photos shown on the internet, the pad has the BSA crossed rifles on it. Is this a unique part to the no8 rifles, or were/are they a commercially available pad?

This is a unique part to the British No8 and Envoy. If it has BSA crossed rifle pad is not original and from a sporter. BDL sell a reproduction hard pad that is a close copy for the original.

Vintage grips also sell the butt plates at $15.00 They are all the same, and will all turn into a pile of black snot over time. It's the nature of the beast.
